The monthlong college football recruiting dead period in which college coaches cannot initiate contact with or have face to face contact with high school football recruits has expired.
For the Florida Gators new coaching staff, the end of the dead period meant the beginning of a frantic rush to signing day. With the Gators sitting on a paltry eight commitments and up to 28 scholarships available, the staff has their work cut out for them to try to finish with some quality if not quantity.
And boy they sure didn’t waste any time. At 12:01 am, the coaching staff met with the mother of five star defensive end Byron Cowart, according to ESPN recruiting analyst Derek Tyson.
While to many it may seem a little odd for coaches to be out recruiting at that time of the night, this is exactly what you need to do when one of your top targets is visiting a rival where your predecessor is now on staff. Once again, Coach Mac and company proving their recruiting chops.
