Four star receiver K. J. Hill (6-0 188) from North Little Rock (AR) recently decommitted from the home state Arkansas Razorbacks. There has been some chatter that the Florida Gators could be a player here for the Army All American receiver.
But are they?
After all, the Gators were one of the main teams he had been considering prior to committing to Arkansas. He took an official visit to Gainesville back in October.
It’s not clear how much contact he’s had with the new staff, but there have been reports that he is still considering Florida.
However, according to an article by Drew Champlain on AL.com, the Gators didn’t even make his final four teams which were listed as Arkansas, Alabama, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
Of course, the reporter only spoke to his stepfather and as is always the case with recruiting, it’s easy to be misled by family members who often put their own spin on the situation.
Reportedly, he has insisted the Gators are still being considered. If so, the question is how strongly is he considering them.
After taking a visit to Alabama last weekend, he is scheduled to visit Ohio State this upcoming weekend. Ohio State may very well be the team to beat as he admittedly is a “fan” of OSU head coach Urban Meyer.
“I love Ohio State,” Hill said in an article in 247sports. “I love how they play. I’m a big fan of coach (Urban) Meyer.”
He also insists he’s still considering all options.
“I’m open right now,” Hill said. “I’m looking at my options.”
Is Florida a realistic option?
Possibly but having already taken an official to Florida he would be unable to visit except on his own dime. This means the new staff would have to do a fantastic sales job on in-home visits in order to secure his signature. Tough to do without the forward momentum official visits provide.
