The Florida Gators have had a difficult recruiting cycle due to wholesale staff changes following the season.
Despite the small number of commits (10), the Gators stand to make up the most ground in the mythical recruiting rankings on national signing day which this year falls on February 4th.
This is due to the large number of four and five star players still considering the Gators and the fact that all of the top prospects left on their board are signing day announcements.
As a result, ESPN plans to offer signing day coverage live from Gainesville.
UF Brad Laura Rutledge will be reporting live during ESPN’s marathon coverage and will also offer updates on Sportscenter.
The Gators have the possibility to close stronger than any other program with five star defensive ends CeCe Jefferson and Byron Cowart and five star offensive tackle Martez Ivey all a good bet to choose the Gators on signing day.
Several other four star athletes have the Gators high on the list including wide receiver Ryan Davis and running back Jordan Cronkite.
There is also a possibility the Gators get shut out completely on five star players and could end up with the proverbial mud on their face.
Gator fans who follow recruiting are still smarting from a few years ago when the Gators went into signing day with eight top rated players on their board only to see them go 0-fer.
Fans are hoping this year will be decidedly different as most of the top guys this year were all considered Gator locks at one point before the previous staff was let go.
It should be a wild finish to this recruiting season for the Gators so tune in live for the ESPN coverage and follow Swamp Music for the latest updates and up to the minute signing day coverage.
