Two Point Conversion: CeCe Loves The Game

Five star defensive end CeCe Jefferson loves to play the recruiting game.

Long considered a Gator lock before the old staff was let go, CeCe has taken advantage of official visits and the notoriety associated with being a five star recruit.

Two weekends ago he visited Auburn and old coach Muschamp with gaggle of top Gator recruits.

Here he is mugging and clowning alongside Muschamp on that Auburn visit.

He, Byron Cowart, and Jeffrey Holland caused an uproar on social media insinuating they had all three agreed to play together in college.

Coming off the Auburn visit, most speculated it referred to them all attending Auburn together but it very well could refer to them all signing with the Gators as it’s the only other team all three are mutually considering.

Perhaps a little suspense building deflection to make signing day a real surprise for the guys that were previously penciled in as Gators before the coaching change?

While Holland reiterated that pact to play together when asked after his Ole Miss visit, most analysts do not believe that will be the case, but, if so, most admit it would likely be at Auburn.

Regardless, CeCe continues to play the game and bask in the attention.

There’s the Derek Tyson interview where he named his list of his final five schools which didn’t include FSU while he was actually wearing a Seminole sweatshirt. Just more CeCe clowning.

Last weekend he visited Ole Miss, whom he named his leader after the season, and basked in the excitement his visit to Oxford generated.

Up next will be a final visit weekend trip to LSU. But, not so fast my friend as the inimitable Lee Corso would say.

On Monday CeCe hosted Gator staff on an in-home visit. Head coach Jim McElwain, defensive coordinator Geoff Collins, and defensive line coach Terrell Williams all came to begin the bonding process and to show him how important he is to their plan for success.

Early Tuesday he posted this pic of him and his mother.

Tuesday evening he took another unofficial visit to Gainesville, a place he’s been numerous times as it’s only an hour away.

Then on Wednesday morning he had this Twitter exchange with Gators defensive end Jonathan Bullard.

So what can we make of all this besides that CeCe loves the recruiting game. Is he really undecided between Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, and LSU?

Is Ole Miss really his leader or a signing day smokescreen?

While he’s been trending away from the Gators for some time, the old rule regarding recruiting remains true: watch what they do, not what they say.

CeCe has been to Gainesville far more times than any other school. He’s tight with a number of current Gator players. The Gators are his childhood favorite team and his family are big Gator fans. Not to mention the short distance to Gainesville would allow his family to see every game.

I think realistically it’s a three team race between Florida, Auburn, and Ole Miss with the Gators in the lead.

He is expected to announce in one week on national signing day Wednesday February 4th.

Stay tuned to Swamp Music for more Florida Gator recruiting updates as we countdown to signing day.
